Alaska

The whole year's PTO, spent right — all eight Alaska parks in one continuous bush-plane-and-boat expedition under the midnight sun. This is the most climatically varied leg of the year: interior Denali runs cool and highly variable (55–70°F days, ~40°F nights, real chance of a rain or even sleet day even in late June), while coastal Kenai Fjords and Glacier Bay run cooler and wetter (55–65°F, frequent drizzle — Southeast Alaska sees rain a third to half of summer days, so build in weather-hold days for boat tours). The Arctic parks (Gates of the Arctic, Kobuk Valley) are surprisingly mild by day (60s, occasionally 70s°F) but drop to 30s–40s°F at night, with near-continuous daylight around the solstice and peak mosquito season on the tundra. Wrangell-St. Elias, Lake Clark, and Katmai sit in between (55–70°F, scattered afternoon showers). Because six of the eight parks depend on small-plane charters with no road backup, build 1–2 unscheduled weather buffer days into the itinerary — this trip spans both Juneteenth National Independence Day and Independence Day but doesn't cleanly map to either.
